Mrs. Aiken began her teaching career in Chicago over 40 years ago teaching biology and physical science at an all girls’ Catholic high school. She graduated college with a bachelor’s degree in zoology and secondary education and earned a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. She has attended the University of Oregon Marine Biology Summer Program, Fermi National Laboratory Summer Institute for Teachers, Space Camp for Teachers in Huntsville, Alabama, STEM Institute, and the Colorado School of Mines.
This is Mrs. Aiken’s 23rd year teaching at Saint Joseph Catholic School. She loves teaching middle school because each day brings its own rewards and challenges. She is grateful for the wonderful students she has the privilege of teaching. “My goal in teaching is to have students believe in themselves, and they are better than they think they are.”
She and her husband Joe have two children, both Saint Joseph graduates. When not teaching, she enjoys running, reading, and traveling while spending time with her family. She is a member of Saint John XXIII.
